My wife and I came in on a Friday evening with reservations and we were warmly welcomed and actually seated early.
Once at our table, our server Laurie greeted us and told us about their specialities.
We ordered drinks and Laurie brought out chips and salsa.
Laurie was attentive, friendly, and efficient. We liked her immediately.
My margarita was excellent and my wife enjoyed her wine.
We both ordered fajitas, my wife ordered roasted vegetables and I ordered steak.
Our food came out hot and everything was delicious. This restaurant isn't cheap but the portions are nice and everything tasted fresh. I really like having choices with the rice and beans. My only complaint and this isn't Uncle Julio's fault, it was pretty noisy and there were a lot of screaming kids.
This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. -

I like the location but unfortunately the outside area was dirty with cigarette butts , toothpicks , napkins ,
And old chips around cushioned seating area.
They also have no happy hour and have no WiFi!!
How they get people to come here is a wonder.
Food prices are high though you do get free chips like anywhere else. Food is not exceptional. Server was friendly. Most likely no competition close by... at least not yet. Less expensive and more authentic places nearby in Waukesha. -

We do a "Piñata Party" with random friends every so often...fun and frugal :)
Also, don't miss the queso or tableside guacamole! -

I really don't like giving bad reviews but I have to be honest with my experiences. I finally had the opportunity to dine at Uncle Julio's for lunch on Friday .
Right out the gate I gotta say I was floored by the High prices. With that being said, I thought to myself if the food is awesome who cares. Then came the chips and salsa. The chips were delicious but my wife and I didn't care for the salsa at all. (Now I'm Getting Nervous)
I ordered a lunch special that came with a enchilada, corn taco, rice, and beans. I wanted a chimichanga but they don't serve them.
I'll end this review and just say the food was literally just okay. Unless they make major changes, I can't go back. -

Stopped in for a very late lunch with my 8 yrs old niece on Saturday. Now, I love Mexican food but this is more on the Tex-Mex side. I was a little surprised how expensive the menu items were. When we sat down we were given a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was warm which was a little bizarre to me because I've never had warmed salsa before. I did not care for it. The salsa is a roasted tomato type of salsa. Unfortunately we did not eat any of the salsa which is very sad because that is like huge to me when I go to a restaurant that serves salsa. Never good when the salsa is bad.
My niece who is a very picky eater really wanted a chimichanga which they do not serve. I waitresses was very kind to help her decide on something to eat by explaining certain kid friendly food. They do have a kids menu but my niece wasn't interested in any of those options. So she decided to get a beef Enchilada which was smothered in a melted cheese sauce. She also got a side of Mexican rice which she really enjoyed.
I decided to go with the shrimp tacos. The presentation was beautiful. It came with three tacos which I got on flour tortillas and a side of white rice with corn in it and really spicy black beans. I was a little surprised how spicy the black beans were. I do really like spicy but I could not finish these beans. As for the tacos they were good. They came with a side of habanero mango sauce which was good. To finish our meal we decided to get the sopapillas which were excellent! And our dipping sauce of choice was warmed honey.
Overall, I was disappointed. I was really hoping for exceptional food at a reasonable prices and I feel that their prices are way too expensive and the food wasn't that great. I'm not sure if I will go back and give them a second try. Unfortunately I just wasn't impressed. Our waitress was very good though, her service was great!
